"My Computer"'s Folders

I have a funny problem
1- I log in as a user that is an Administrator
2- click “My Computerâ€
I get a listing of all my drives
3- double click a disk drive (same problem with all drives)
I get a listing of all the folders on the drive.
4- I double click on any folder and I get the windows question “Open Withâ€
Choose the program you want to use to open this file
“My Computer†does not seem to know what to do when a folder is clickedâ€

5- Opened “MS Word†(same results with any program)
clicked “Save As†selected same drive
clicked folder, opened just fine

Another observation
In “My Computer†selecting FILE there is no selection for NEW
Also right clicking does not come up with a selection for NEW
In MS Word or EXCEL there is no problem with creating a new Folder.
This problem started around the time we had an aborted update. System went
to Blue screen and we selected “Last configuration that workedâ€
Is there a configuration option that would create this, Is the registry
screwed up?
Thanks in advance for any help

No, there wouldn't be. My Computer is not a folder so you can't create a new file there. You also can't drag, copy, move, or do
any other file operation with/to it. You can however perform file operations to the drives listed it in, but no My Computer itself.
