"My Computer" "Address Bar" USB's not working properly

Hello all

When i want to go to "My Computer" it take a very long time for the screen
to load.
This also happens when i want to open or save a file in a differnt location,
i have to wait a few minutes for the drop screen to appear.

Also when i want to type in an address in IE i can type it in and hit enter
the page will just stay their and will never load. i have to go to a search
engine and type in everything. that is very annoying.

Now I will tell you something that i think that may have caused theis, but i
am unsure that this could have effected this. I bought a USB to IDE cable off
ebay to connect an extra HDD that i had. Now I accidentlu installed the
driver for this before i read that i dont need to install this on a XP
system. After i installed this, this made my comp. run really slow and this
is when i started to have all these problems. I tried to uninstall the
dirver, but i dont know where it went. My computer has now been like this for
a few months and it is really iritating.

I tried a link that was posted in another section when someone asked for
help with his " My Computer" and i disable that Aquisision thinggy, but that
did nothing, still the same problem.

Any help would be appreciated. BTW i DONT want to reinstall my system,
unless it is 100% completly neccasary.

You could try disconnecting all your usb devices and then rt click
MyComputer>select Properties>Hardware>Device Manager>View>Check Show Hidden
Devices>All USB Controllers>rt click each one and choose Uninstall. Restart
and let XP
reinstall the Controllers.

Did you remove the USB Hard Drive. They use USB 2.0 . Do you have USB
2.0 Connectors on the Motherboard?
