My color indicator for filtering is black - how do I get it back .

I'm using a new Dell box, Excel 2003, Win XPPro.
When applying a filter in Excel, the triangle indicator in the filtered
column(s) do not change to blue. The indicator remains black, which makes a
filtered column indistinguishable from an unfiltered column.

Does anyone know how to get the indicator to be blue ( as also described in
the Help files ) ?

Are you using a customized 'Display Property' in Windows XP? That could do it.
