A while ago my computer crashed and in the process of restoring it a file
called "My BackUp" was created. It uses almost 1 GB of disk space and I no
longer need it. But WindowsXP will not let me delete it. I am logged in as
"owner" with admistrative privileges. How can I get rid of it?
Thanks

Check to see if your account has the permissions required to
delete the file. Assign your account Full Control. Take a look
here for more info:

How to set, view, change, or remove file and folder permissions
in Windows XP

In order to change permissions you may need to take ownership
of the files. Take a look here for the procedure:

Note: If you are running Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition, you
must start the computer in safe mode, and then log on with an
account that has Administrative rights to have access to the
Security tab. To start in Safe Mode, reboot your computer and
start tapping the F8 key as soon as you see anything displayed
on the screen. Keep hitting F8 until the Advanced Startup
Options menu appears. Use the up and down arrow keys on your
keyboard to select Safe Mode. Hit Enter.

Good luck

Hi,
Yes, system has been rebooted many times.

Reboot into Safe Mode. Then try deleting it.

Reboot and press and hold the F8 key as the computer is starting. Then choose Safe Mode.
