My auto text keeps disappearing!

Hi,

I have been using auto text in word to create many pick boxes with text and
pictures. After sepnding a whole day on finising the auto text pick boxes, i
closed word and restarted, and now i cannot see any of my auto text in
Normal.dot.

Is there any way i cant recover them?

How can i get my auto texts to save so that i dont need to go through this
again.

Possibly the Auto Text has been saved to a different template (by default
they are saved to normal.dot). But you may also have one of those dreadful
add-ins that stop WOrd from saving changes to normal.dot. SO test to see if
you change the default font gets saved.

Hi Terry,

The default font is Times New Roman. I changed to Sylfaen, typed a few words
and saved the document. When I open the same document, at the end of the
sentence i can continue to type in Sylfaen (which i think means it's saving
the font?)

I had also copied the Normal.dot and saved it under another folder with a
different name as a backup. But that file also didn't have my autotexts after
rebooting.

I can do it once more, but what steps do i need to take to make sure it
doesn't get deleted again. I was suppose to finish this assignment today, but
am no where near completion now. :(

You need to change the default Font by going to Format, Font, selecting a
different Font or size and press the DEFAULT button. Close Word.

Launch Word, open a new document and type. Is it in the new default font you
selected?
