ex. 2:13 minutes into a 4:00 mintue song and 4 seconds into a 10 second
slide. I have tried to completely remove all music and reload everything.
Please help this was supposed to be a Christmas gift and will not be done
now. I have been working on this project since Thanksgiving trying to put
together my step sons life story for my hisband and his birth mother. He was
killed last year and I really would love to be able to still finish this
tonight or even first thig tomorrow morning.

Hi Tina,

There are a couple of possible causes.

1. The song may have been trimmed (told to cut off) when inserted.
Re-inserting it should have cleared this up.

2. You may have a sound card that can not handle multiple sound threads and
some other sound is starting.

3. The sound file may be corrupt

So what I would do is:

1. Verify the sound file is good, by playing it in another music player

2. Make sure that no other sounds are used (transition sounds are often a
culprit in this type of thing)

3. Delete the sound file, then re-insert it. Make sure it is set to play
thru multiple slides until done. The method for this is easier to describe
if you tell us what version of PowerPoint you are using.

Hi Bill
I have Power Point 2007. I have tried taking the files completely off and
reinserting them. I have moved the music to around and it will play fine in
other areas so I know it has to do something with these particular slides. I
feel like I must no be clearing something in someway before reloading
everything. any suggestions? Thanks

Hi again Tina,

Go to one of the slides that has a bad sound file. Select the sound icon.
Open the Animation Tab and click on Custom animation. Right click on the
highlighted animation and select Effect Options.

Make sure the From Beginning is selected and change the Stop playing to
"After:" and put 10 in the box next to it.

Does this fix it?

It's me again the slide i am having trouble with doesn't have a sound icon
because it is farther done the presentation it is actually slide thirteen,
then again around slide twenty nine with another song but that one will start
again after a couple of slides then another song stops around slide 43

oh one other thing Bill I am putting the number of slides in that I need for
instance 28 for the first song based on how long each slide will remain up
with his picture and how long the song is. I know you staated 10 so is going
over that a problem?

No, 10 was just a suggestion. If 28 is the number needed that is what you
should use.

Check for other sounds that may be starting. Often there is a hidden sound
file used in a transition. Check one of these isn't fouling you up.

You can also find the offending slide by just moving them one at a time to
the end of the presentation. If the song plays thru with one of the slides
moved, then you know that slide is the one causing problems. It should help
limit the search.
