I have two computers using Multiview
New AIW 9600 PRO with a TV Wonder PCI and new Asus motherboard with on
board SoundMax sound running XP Pro SP1

AIW 7500 with a TV Wonder in old slot one board using a ISA SB AWE64
Value sound card running win98se fully patched.

Both are using MMC 8.6 which was installed with the retail CD that
came with my new AIW9600 PRO. I have tried installing a more recent
version of MMC on either computer but end up with an unusable setup
and am forced to restore my backup.

Multiview works on both them the way it is, but I have one audio
anomaly on both computers.

When I set up the audio following ATIs instructions = The AIW internal
jack to the sound card internal Aux jack, and the TV Wonder using
external patch cord from TV wonder audio in, to sound card audio out.

Multiview works but when recording, which, of course, employs the
primary AIW, then sound volume is extremely reduced in the recording.
I have to turn the playback up to full volume in order to hear it.

If I reverse the way sound is installed on the two cards then
recording volume is normal but normal playback volume is severely
reduced on the pprimary AIW. I have to turn things up all the way to
hear it at normal levels.....and I mean I have to turn it all the way
up on the sound card settings using the tray appellate.

I am having this with both setups which are generations apart so this
has to be a common thing. Anybody else have this problem.... any body
come up with a solution?

Not sure what sound card you are using but you may want to check this
link out.

http://www2.ati.com/drivers/mmc88_Release_Notes.html

Bottom of page:

"If you are using the version 250 (or later) Audigy drivers and
correctly configured the ATI MULTIMEDIA CENTER™ in the Initialization
Wizard as described above, then you will not be able to adjust the
playback volume while you are recording. This occurs because the
record and playback levels are linked and adjusting the playback
volume will affect the record volume. You will be able to mute audio
during recording (without affecting the recording)."
