MULTIPLY TWO VALUES

On an older version of word you could multiply two numbers and get the result
in a third field. This was in a table. I would like to multiply column A
and column C and have the result in column D.

Can someone please help me with this? I am spinning my wheels trying to
find an answer in the help section of Word, and have not found it online
either.

Thanks!

Macropod - Thanks for the help. I looked over your word document, and I am
totally lost.

I need to multiply column 1 with column 3 and have the answer appear in
column 4. Do you know how to do this in simple terms please?

Thanks!

hi babsomatic,

In simple terms, to calculate A1 by C1 and have the result appear in another cell, you'd:
.. position the insertion point where you want the result to appear
.. press Ctrl-F9 to create a pair of field braces (ie '{}')
.. insert '=A1*C1' between the field braces, thus '{=A1*C1}
.. select the field and press F9 to update it.

The tutorial, of course, goes into much greater detail on the kinds of calculations you can do, plus how to control the appearance
of the output.
