Multiple Users Desktop Settings

Does anyone know why the desktop settings are not separate for different
users. When logged in as one user and deleting icons, it deletes it from
other users desktop. This only happens on our laptop pc not our desktop pc.
We are using Vista Home Premium.

It's because those shortcuts are in the All Users Start Menu. Put shortcuts
to desired programs in each user account's Start Menu instead.

The new location in Vista for the all users start menu is:
C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu.

You can click Start and then right-click All Programs and select Explore All
Users and get to the same location.

The user specific start menu folder is in:
C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu.

Then you can arrange things as you like.
