In my AD Win2000 server network I have two XP pro systems.
I am having a problem getting the XP machines to read the
GPO during login. The error indicated no permissions to
the SYSVOL folder. The permissions are there and should be
inherited by the DFS redirected Sysvol folder but
something is wrong. It may not be related but I've turned
on auditing of login/logoff and I find that the login and
logoff is constantly occurring. 538's and 540's in the
same second. Every other minute. What is causing this?

The log on/off is because it is in a retry cycle.
Can you manually map the sysvol Folder to a letter
and view content ?
If you cannot, then . . .
I suspect that you are seeing a failure for digital signing
of the SMB traffic. There are policies on the server end
and client end for Securing digital communications
Try on one of the XP boxes crippling it so it will not try
(assuming that your servers are not set to require it).
