Multiple Profiles Accessing One Contacts Folder

I am running Outlook2000 under Win/XP/SP2 on a Dell9100. I have multiple
Outlook profiles (one for each email account). I presently share address
info using a single PAB that is attached as a service to each profile. Works
quite well. I do a similar thing with my calendar: I have a stripped down
..pst file that contains only my calendar. This .pst file is attached to each
profile. There are a few minor problems (like adding appointments from
emails), but it works pretty well (good enough for me).

I would like to migrate from PAB to Outlook Contacts, but have not found a
way to share information across profiles without going through the mess of
multiple copies of folders, Net sharing, synchroniztion via hidden emails,
etc. I importied my PAB to the calendar .pst file and can see the contact
data from any profile, BUT only when the "focus" is set to the calendar .pst
file. If I try to use contacts from any other .pst file in a given profile,
Outlook refs the Contacts folder for that .pst file.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

Personally I'd upgrade to OL2003 and use a single profile for the multiple
email accounts. Modes have been done away with since OL2002 and you can
choose which account to send with easily now.

Any particular reason you've set things up the way you have with the
accounts & such?

thanks for the reply.

The current setup is historical and is based on my desire to separate
personal and business(es). IMO the positives outweight the negatives.

I have been reluctant to upgrade from Office2K because there is little in
the newer versions that I really want (perhaps OL2003 is an exception). In
fact, most new capability is just junk I do not want and adds to the
complexity and lack of robustness. However, I will look at OL2003 and see
what advantages it offers

Any thoughts on why the MS network community (help) site is such an awlful
mess. I really try to stay away from it because it is so punishing to use.
My success rate in submiting items and replies is probably less than 30%. I
get endless messages about database errors, pages not available, etc., and
even when things LOOK OK, when I go back in a day or two to explore replies,
the post is not there.
