Multiple Net Connections

Friends,

I have a laptop computer running Windows XP Home that has
both a built-in 10/100 Ethernet adapter and a built-in 54g
wireless adapter.

Frequently, I take the laptop from place to place and
connect to a multitude of different network connections on
a regular basis. There are four different wireless
networks that I connect two on a regular basis, and one
wired network. On each of the wireless networks, I need a
static IP address to accomplish what I do. On the wired
network, the IP can be assigned by DHCP. Some of the
networks have different network resources I connect to,
others are purely for Internet use. Some of the wireless
networks have encryption (WEP) enabled, each with a
different key.

So, my basic question is this: Is there some way, either
through Windows XP or a 3rd party utility, that I can
establish all of the various settings for each of these
networks once, and easily switch between them as needed,
rather than having to manually change the network
connection settings each time I connect to a different
network? I can create two sets of network settings by
using the "Alternate Configuration" setup that Windows
provides, but that is still only two sets of settings, and
it doesn't take into account things like different mapped
network drives, printers, security settings, and so forth.

Any help would be most appreciated.

Thanks!

Greetings

Use the configuration tool for the built-in wireless adapter instead of
windows wireless networking. Most third party tools will give you the option
to make profiles for different wireless networks.

I use a belkin card in my laptop and have three profiles with different
encryption and TCP connections.

Hope this generic message helps

Plug & Browse is another product that saves multiple network profiles.

Does this mean that you cannot set up network profiles in XP? I would like
to have a "home" user which accesses our home wireless network with a small
workgroup, and a "work" user where the network has a domain. I am having a
problem with traveling between the two networks. Our home network freezes up
because it is searching for the domain and can't find it.

Windows XP doesn't have multiple network profiles. That requires
3rd-party utilities like the ones I mentioned.
