Multiple instances of outlook 2000

After a few days of work without doing a restart, I find that outlook will
not backup and when this happens I find that there are multiple instances of
Outlook.exe running in the task manager process tab with no apparent Outlook
application running and using up lot's of memory. I don't understand what
is happening - can anyone explain

Just a quick question Brian. That page was excellent and I thank you and the
author for it. I have never seen multiple instances of outlook.exe in the
Task Manager. Of course I am using Outlook 2000 and the op may not be. But
I have tried all versions just never seen that before. Have you?

Op really should check their Addins and COM also.
