Multiple Instances in a Column

How do I get a column to only show one instance of a number when it appears
multiple times? For example I am working with a large worksheet. The main
column that I need to look at contains multiple instances of 8 digit
numbers(ex: 400009999) I used the auto filter but since the column is so
large I cannot see all of the numbers at one time. I was hoping to be able
to hi-lite the column, do some type of format and only see each number one
time.
