Multiple Folders Named "Contact" in Outlook 2003

I recently purchased a new computer and transferred my outlook.pst file from
the old XP machine to the new Vista machine. When I try to use the address
book for an email, it comes up with a blank folder named "Contacts". If I
use the drop down list, there is a second folder named "Contacts" which has
all my old contacts. I know how to change the default order to have my
"Contacts" folder show up first, but how can I get rid of the duplicate
folder named "Contacts". In navigation pane, only one folder named
"Contacts" shows up. However, if I use theTolls/Options in the e-mail
accounts set-up or the address book set-up the drop downs have two folders
named "Contacts". Any ideas on where it came form and how to get rid of it?

You appear not to have migrated your data correctly and left an invalid
reference to a Contacts Folder in your address book view. It is easy to
remove here:
Tools > E-mail accounts > View or change existing directories or address
books > Outlook Address Book > Change… >

Tools>E-mail Accounts>View or change existing directoryies or address
books>Next. Select Outlook Address Book, click Change. Remove the bogus
reference there.

I have the identical situation as you and read the replies to your post. When
going to Tools>.... two files named "Contacts" show up. One of them obviously
should be deleted. The question now is "Which one?". It does not give you an
option to check the contents of the file

Outlook version? What windows do you have open when you click Tools? Do
you choose any menu item after clicking Tools? Be complete in your
description.

Doesn't matter. Just delete one. If you delete the wrong one, add it back
and delete the other.
