Multiple Charts against an AS cube Grid

M

Mark Frank

Hi all,

Is it possible to do 2 different charts against 1 pivot
table grid (both embedded objects on the same sheet). I.e.
1 chart using state Washington on the Pages axis and 1
chart using state California? What I am trying to avoid
is having 2 pivot table grids to support 2 charts.

Thanks in advance!

Mark

Hi Mark -

If the analyses you are plotting occurs on different sheets, you need separate tables for the
charts. If you can move the state pivot field down to the top of the column pivot fields, you'll
get the states in side by side parts of the table. If there are more states, you can ignore them
or hide those items.

Since pivot charts show all the data in the table, you should make regular charts. No great
loss, unless you want the pivot action within the chart, because pivot charts lack many features
of normal charts. To make a normal chart from a pivot table, select a blank cell not connected
to the pivot table and start the chart wizard. In step 2, click on the series tab, and add the
series you need, selecting data for the Categories and Values carefully to avoid selecting one
of the pivot field buttons. Doing so will convert the chart to a pivot chart.

Thanks for the response John,

I appreciate it, was very helpful. I didn't know a non-
pivot chart could be built off of a pivot table grid.
