multihomed computer question

hi everyone,

i have 2 internet connections at home, a cable modem and an ADSL. i use the
cable modem network mainly for downloading. i use the ADSL network mainly
for gaming.

my file server is mostly attached to the cable modem network for downloading
things off the internet, and i will connect the file server to the ADSL
network if i want to share files among my gaming pcs

i was wondering if making this file server multihomed is as easy as
installing an additional NIC and attach that to the ADSL network? if so, is
there a way to tell my download/upload software on the file server to use the
cable connection for that purpose? i dont want the file
downloading/uploading "leaking" over to the ADSL side to affect my gaming
performance...

please advise

thank you

regards,
Michael
