Multicolor Word Art style in Powerpoint 2007

[Old.Professor]

When I used Powerpoint 2003 I made use of a Word Art pre-defined style
that had a rainbow-like progression of colors in the text. It also had
a shadow. I can't find that in Powerpoint 2007. Is there some way I
can continue to use that style?

That style doesn't exist anymore.

You can add a similar shadow using Drawing Tools Format | Text Effects |
Shadow (choose the first perspective one at the bottom of the gallery.

For the rainbow, use Drawing Tools Format | Text Fill | Gradient | More
Gradients. (Or you can just click the WordArt Styles dialog launcher -- the
little square in the lower right of the WordArt Styles group.) On the Text
Fill tab, click Gradient Fill. Then Preset Colors and choose the first
ranbow in the presets. Change Type to Radial.

I don't see any way to add it to any presets or galleries to hang onto it,
though, so I guess format some text like this on a slide and save that slide
so you can copy/paste from it in future.

No, it doesn't. You can save the textbox default, but then it would apply to
all "manual" textboxes. I don't think the user would really want to do that
in this case.

all the old Powerpoint clip art. Too bad that valuable features
disappear. I don't understand how that fits into a business model.

Hi Marshall,


A new type of WordArt was added in Office 2007 to replace what Microsoft saw as 'dated' looks in the prior WordArt (introduced a
decade back in 1996) and 'old doesn't meet today's needs [i.e. business model - old doesn't sell well <g>]

While Excel and Powerpoint had the new WordArt feature, Word, ironically did not get updated WordArt into the product.

You can create the WordArt in Word and the rainbow gallery is 'WordArt style 16', and then copy and paste into Powerpoint and be
able to edit the text in Powerpoint [also try different Home=>Paste=>Paste Special choice in Powerpoint, or, starting in Powerpoint
you can use Insert=>Object=>Microsoft Ofice Word Document, and then in that resizable 'object box' use Word's Insert=>WordArt.

Fortunately I have Office 2000, which I also installed. I also saved
