multi honed not routing to internet.

tim

i've set up a router (d-link 604)192.168.0.1 and attached
it to a windows 2000 system with two nics. ( 192.168.5.27
and 192.168.0.100)
from all computer on the 5 network can ping the 0.100 nic
but can not ping the 0.1 router. nor can they access the
admin util on the router or access the internet.

I had the network running fine until the drive had an
issue (could ping and access the internet) I added dns as
192.168.0.1 to all the computer on the 5 network. which is
what I think start it working.

what am I missing here?

the 5 net configs
dg 192.168.5.27
dns 192.168.0.1
no wins

the share network option is not selected , if forces the
nic on the w2k machine to use the routers id 192.168.0.1

Are you using W2K server or Pro?
Check the bindingorder in Network Connections, advanced, advanced and make
sure the internal nic is on top. Internal nic should not have a gateway. DNS
on both internal and external nic should point to the internal nic-IP.
External nic should only have TCP/IP bound.
