msxml3.dll error 80072f76

I am using windows xp home edition and am getting this
error whenever I go to a microsoft site to download
updates for windows xp or IE6:

msxml3.dll error '80072f76'

The requested header was not found

/library/toolbar/3.0/vb.asp, line 34


I have tried to reinstall IE6 but that hasn't been
successful. Any suggestions?

Steve -- go to c:\windows\system32 and find the msxml3.dll
file get the creation date and time as well as the version
number. Rename the file to msxml3.dll.old Then reinstall
i.e 6.0 sp1 and see if that fixes it (a Reinstall can not
replace a file unless it is older than the install
version, that's why I said to rename the current file).
Try that and let me know.
