MSSQL$MSSMLBIZ service cannot be found

Jac Tremblay

Hi,
When I open Outlook, I get the message "The MSSQL$MSSMLBIZ service cannot be
found on computer '.'. And then another message: "Do you want to work off
line?".
The name of the computer is wrong and BCM used to work fine.
I have Windows XP Pro, Office 2007 and VS.Net 2005 Pro.
What can I do?
Thanks

Hi William,
Where do you get the Database Tools menu? There is no such menu in Outlook
nor in SQL Server Management Studio.
Thanks.

Database Tools is a menu item off Outlook/BCM's BCM menu.

If BCM doesn't start up far enough to display its menu in Outlook, I
would first check that the machine has a sql server MSSQL$MSSMLBIZ
service, and that the service is started and running. If that is the
case, try creating a new Mail profile, start Outlook with the new
profile, and try to connect BCM to your existing database, or create a
new database.

Hi Luther,
BCM does not start so I do not get access to the BCM menu. The addin cannot
load because the connection fails.
I could not find the SQL Server MSSQL$MSSMLBIZ service either.
I have had some problems connecting to SQL Server lately but things are ok
now except for Outlook BCM.
I wander what I need to do to get the connection going and how to do that.
Thank you for your help, Luther, I appreciate.

Check your Windows Services. There should be a sqlserver MSSMLBIZ
service. If its stopped, start it and set it to automatic. If its not
there, rerun BCM setup to create MSSMLBIZ.

Hi Luther,
I uninstalled BCM and reinstalled it (for the 3rd time). It works fine now.
Thank you for your help and have a good day.
