msn messenger

I understand that windows messenger and msn messenger are
2 separate entities. I have been using windows messenger
and would like to use msn messenger. I have tried
downloading msn messenger from the msn site numerous
times and always get an error 1601 that says the
installation failed, download the program from the msn
site--which is what I've done. I would appreciate some
help, if anyone else has had this problem, or knows how
to fix it. Thanks!!

This usually happens if your Windows Installer is not working properly.

To correct, do the following -- click Start, then Run, and type the following:
%systemroot%\system32\msiexec.exe /regserver
then click OK.
