msn messenger/windows messenger won't work consistently

I had trouble with MSN messenger 6.2 not responding so I
uninstalled it. I then found that my Windows messenger
folder was empty and it would not work either. My Outlook
Express no longer shows any messenger options.

I reinstalled 6.2 and found I had both versions again,
with 6.2 not working. But when I shut down my computer
and turned it on again the next day, I could not find
anything but 6.2.

Help!! I just want some version that works!

Greetings,

Actually if you've "hid" Windows Messenger using the Add or Remove Components the folder will
appear to be blank but Windows Messenger is actually there (and will start with any
application that calls it).

Regardless, could you be more specific about what you mean when "6.2 isn't working", error
messages, etc.?

More info:

6.2 works, just not while Outlook Express 6 is running.
And it takes 2 minutes at least for OE to open. As soon
as OE starts, msn 6.2 quits responding.

Any suggestions?

Close Outlook Express, then download and run the following .reg file:
http://messenger.jonathankay.com/downloads/stopmessenger_oe.reg

Then try it.
