msn dissconnecting and not recieving all messages

For a start i can imagine that this problem is actually
relatively easy too solve and i have missed something.
I currently run the latest available msn messenger on a
WIN XP Pro OP w/SP2.This problem has haunted me ever
since the connection was changed from dialup too
broadband. The issue is that when I am on msn people seem
too always recieve what i say but I dont always recieve
what they do. My MSN also randomly looses connection and
has too reconnect. As i use the WIN FIREWALL provided
with SP2 (no other firewalls are running). I have opened
the port 1863 for msn. On the site I came from too find
this forum it also recommended opening 14 other ports.
One of these however shares the same number as the Remote
Desktop so I cannot add it again. Wether or not this
information will help i do not know but my internet
connection runs through a router too make the connection.
Not any other computer. This router also has a firewall
but I believe that the ports have been opened.
Any help would be a gratefully appreciated.
Regards,
Damian

damian, i have the exact exact exact same problem as you.
i tried removing xp2 and the firewall, and also using msn
beta 7, and still i have the same problem. not connecting
+ not getting messages. i hate it. there are about 2-3
people who have the same problem. i got in touch with some
of them, some fo them fixed it. i am using a neatgear
wireless router that allows only my computers to connect,
without encryption. i have cable internet. anyway, let's
stay in touch, can you give any more details?
