MSN Connect?

C

Chris

Thanks, thanks, and thanks, Jonathan. ;^)

I've been asked to research "MSN Connect". What can you tell me about it?
http://www.microsoft.com/net/services/msnmc/ is the only information I can
find. It appears to be a third-party service that is re-packaged by
Microsoft.

It's not clear to me how this technology/service would fit into our Exchange
IM (soon to be Live Communications Server) environment. Would it provide
more secure .NET instant messaging? Would it provide protection from viruses
that are spread through Windows Messenger's "File Transfer" feature? How
does it work with Exchange Instant Messaging? With Live Communications
Server?

Thanks for any information you can provide.

Hi Chris,

See my retraction on the Windows 2000 Whiteboard/Application Sharing comment (just posted it
if you missed it), they are available on Win2k with Service Pack 4 installed.

To be honest, I haven't seen much of MSN (Messenger) Connect but my understanding is it's
composed of both third-party components and Microsoft components. The IM Manager it contains
from IMLogic does what you indicated (regarding virus scanning, etc.), see here:
http://www.imlogic.com/prod_secure.htm

I'm not quite sure how it would interact with Exchange IM or Live Communications Server.
You'd probably get much more information by asking directly here:
https://microsoft.order-6.com/netservices/ [contrary, to the look of the URL, you don't
actually have to order ;) ]
