msinfo32.exe opens "help and support center"

S

SPJ

When I click on "System Information" in start/all
programs/accessories/system tools/system information,
the "Help and Support Center" opens up. In Help and
Support center, when I click on "use tools . ."/advanced
system information another Help and Support Center opens
up. Opening msinfo32.exe in the "run" window opens up
Help and Support Center.

System information used to work. Unfortunately, I don't
have a restore point far enough back to help.

Suggestions?

Thanks, Steve

Kelly,

Thank you for your help.

All the paths you listed checked out normal, yet the
issue persists. Could there be something with file
associations: MSInfo thinks it is Help and Support
Center, or vice versa? When I go to the actual app in
Microsoft Shared/MSInfo and double-click, it opens up
Help and Support Center.

Thanks for helping me try to sort this out.

Peace, Steve

Hello again, Kelly.

I went to the website in your reply and found the
msinfo32.exe tips.

I tried "Go to Start/Run and type in:
msinfo32 /categories +all -loadedmodules (exactly as
written)" and I got the advanced syste info to run
*inside* Help and Support Center. This is good since I
can at least get the info.

I would prefer msinfo32.exe to open apart from Help and
Support Center.

Thank again - the site you sent me to is great!

Peace, Steve
