msiexec.exc Runtime Error

Hello,

Every time I try to install Office 2007 on my XP machine the installation
fails and the following message appears:

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
Runtime Error!
Program: C:\WINDOWS\system32\msiexec.exc
The application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information.

I tried to install Office 2003 and the same thing happened. I've reinstalled
Windows Installer but the problems persists. What could be wrong? Can anyone
help?

Make sure that the latest Windows Installer version has been installed.
"Windows Installer 3.1 v2 (3.1.4000.2435) is available"
