MSFT AntiSpyware (Beta) PROBLEMS

A few points we need to have cleared-up:

1.) Will this Microsoft pgm interact w/Spybot
already installed on computers?

2.) Any BUGS in it that anyone can report?...Is it SAFE?
3.) Since it's a BETA pgm, will there be a final version soon?

Thx!

This program was a Giant Company program. It was bought by Microsoft. It
therefore is not a beta release as labeled by Microsoft. It has a good track
history. I have used it with spybot and never had any real problems. It is
not a premature release from Microsoft.

Be careful!

Microsoft purchased this and then MODIFIED the program. Check the Microsoft
site for the correct newsgroup. There are many, many issues, some of which
could render your system useless. This is definitely in the Beta stage
(since it was modified my MS). Do not install unless you're prepared to
reformat your hard drive. Some people have experienced no problems; they're
lucky. I would wait for the final version.

Ditto.
But if you decide to take the risk nevertheless...
I suggest that you not trust its findings, and only "quarantine" whatever it
finds. Don't remove anything permanently until you've researched it, and
know for sure that it should be removed.
Use the same caution as you would with any new, untested, untried, specialty
registry cleaner! That's actually what it is...

The major problem with it is that it "requires" IE 6. I'll stick to other
products that don't try to dictate which browser I must use.

It claims to have found a backdoor used to monitor AOL in a file that
was only ever used on a DOS3.30 machine.
I'll get the file checked out, as the machine it was on before it got
backed up to my machine was networked, but I think it's a false alarm.
