MSAntiSpy crashes system

After installing the above:
My system freezes when I try to launch other programs either by shortcut or
Start>Programs>Program Icon. I tried to uninstall program by going to
Control Panel but can only get to Add/Remove and then hourglass and eventual
freeze. If I go to Start>Programs>MSAntiSpy>Uninstall then nothing also.
Sometimes if I try to Shutdown and Restart then I get error message that MS
GIANT antispy encountered an error and was unable to shut down. Rebooting
does not help. Running System Restore comes back with unable to restore
because no changes were made. Trying to run ERUNDT to restore to previous
time also causes system to freeze. Tried to boot in Safe Mode and delete MS
Antispy through above methods but that told me there was a possible Windows
Installer error.Unable to launch Utilities such as Nortons SystemWorks.
Unable to even launch Norton's from CD. System is Dell 8400 running XP Home.
Everything started immediately after MS AntiSpy install. Any ideas would be
appreciated. Thank you, Steve T.

Kelly, I did as you said and got the same message as before. "The Windows
Installer Service could not be accessed. This can occur if you are running
Windows in Safe Mode or if the Windows Installer is not correctly installed.
Contact support personnel for assistance."

A follow up to the above problem. I noticed this morning that the fan speed
was constantly changing up and down. Don't know what that means. But I
booted up in Safe Mode, went into My Computer and scrolled down to
Programs>MS Anti.... and deleted the folder manually. The whole time the fan
was changing speeds. Then I ran a registry scan/fixer utility that "found"
112 errors. I let the program fix them and then re-booted. Fan speed
stabilized and all works normal as before the install of MS AntiSpy. Good
riddance!! Steve T
