MS Word crashes after printing

MS Word tends to crash (application hangs) and has to be
closed most times after I print a word document. It
prints the document but upon finishing I get this hanging
problem. Sometimes it works for the first print but
crashes for the second which is very frustrating when I
have a large number of documents to print.

I have a Sony PCG-Z1SP laptop connected under cable
ethernet to desktop computer Athlon 2000+. The laptop
runs XP Pro and the desktop XP Home. I have an Epson
Stylus Photo 950 attached to the desktop and prints
fine. However from the laptop it takes a longish time to
spool and prone to crashing. I have closed all non
essential user processes leaving only : ezSP_Px ccApp
ccRegVfy & msmsgs in msconfg startup. This seemed to
help the system go faster but still crashes. I suspect
the epson status monitor which I removed from start up
list but there are still processes connected to it in
task manager ie E_S10MT EP1BSR30 & EBRR.exe which I have
no idea what they do. Also while the print monitor shows
ink level on desktp it does not on laptop - just blank. I
also notice that if I print a document and then
immediately go to shutdown the computer I get the error :
End Prog STM3S BackMon. This has to be ended in order to
shut the system down.

Any help gratefully received. BillL
