MS Windows XP Pro Piracy

I recently purchased XP Pro from an internet site. The software seems
to install and work fine except when I try to do one specific update
-- Service Pack 1. When I try to do that update I get an error saying
the Product Key is invalid and to contact the the Piracy Division at
MS. All other updates from the MS update site install ok.

I sent an email to the MS Piracy group expecting to get some insight
to what was happening. However, all I got back was an autoreply
basically saying no further info would be forthcoming.

I have two questions:

a. Have I purchased pirated software?

b. If so, how can I get the update from MS to download and install?

If you are getting the following error message when attempting to update:

Error Message: The Product Key Used to Install Windows Is Invalid
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;326904&Product=winxp

You'll have to purchase a new "Full Version" of Windows XP Professional
and perform a "Repair Install" using the new Windows XP Pro CD and Product Key
that comes with it. (You cannot simply change the Product Key)

A. Yes, it appears so.
B. Purchase a legal copy of XP.
