MS Outlook Errors sending mail.

When sending email extrenally via POP3 I get the
following message. Mail sends fine internally via
exchange.

The following recipient(s) could not be reached:

'Recipient's Address' on 12/22/2003 12:30 PM
550 not local host "Host Name", not a gateway

Any ideas?

Thanks

You're using Exchange Server and POP3 at the same time?

First thought is why not let Exchange handle Internet mail, both in and
out, but ... Anyway, Check your config for the Internet Mail in your
profile. Make sure there is a valid SMTP server for outbound mail. It
probably says "Host Name" in the SMTP server box. Since (I'm guessing)
you're at work, you may need to determine who your ISP is and use your
ISP's SMTP server for your office. If your Exchange server does do
Internet Email outbound, I'd try to use it as my SMTP server, first,
but it may require authentication.

Also, while you're in the Profile, you might consider re-ordering the
"Process Internet Mail items in the following order" and put your
Exchange Server, first, if it is capable of outbound Internet Mail.
