MS Messanger/QuickCam

C

Clay

We need to establish communications between two PCs on the
Web using a LogiTech QuickCam. When we enter the MS
Messenger all we get is a blank screen and not audio. The
video/audio does work: made a strip and played it back. We
can use text back and fourth.

The OS is XP. ISP is NetZero.

Thanks, Clay

Greetings Clay,

When you say NetZero, you do mean dialup correct (I know they offer DSL as well)?

Firstly, both sides should make sure that they've gone through the Audio/Video Tuning Wizard
recently. To do so, open up the main Messenger window, click the Tools menu, then select
Audio Tuning Wizard.

Secondly, you and your contact might try turning off the QoS Packet Scheduler. To do so,
click Start, then All Programs, then Accessories, then Communications, and then Network
Connections. Right click your network/internet/dialup connection, then click Properties.
Uncheck the QoS Packet Scheduler, and try again.

Thirdly, if you're using Windows Messenger, you may want to use MSN Messenger instead, as it
provides a few different ways to get around various networking problems and provides a relay
server for its "Webcam" support (http://messenger.msn.com/Download).

Hello Jonathan,

Thanks for your reply. I will not be able to work on this
until Friday and will let you know the results.

Yes, the NetZero is dialup.

May I have your permission to copy my question and your
suggestions in an Email to the other party. They live on
the East coast of Florida and I'm on the West coast.

Hi Jonathan,
I misled you when I said that we were using MS Messenger.
It should have been Windows Messenger. Any thoughts?
Thanks for your help. - Clay
