MS Laser Desktop 6000 V2 stopped working

I am on my second replacement of this keyboard, The first one worked for
about 6 weeks, it was exchanged. This one has worked flawlessly for exactly 3
months, and now this one has stopped working properly. Both had/have the same
symptoms. I have done all the uninstalling/reinstalling keyboard and
drivers, moved anything that could possibly interfere, reconnecting the
channels, all several times. The keyboard works fine for a while (30 minutes
to 3 hrs, depending how much I use it), then it goes crazy. Usually the
calculator comes on, OR the Google search box with gibberish in it, OR it
stops typing, sometimes only one of the symptons, sometimes all of them a
once, but it always ends that I cannot type. After 3 or 4 connections
(pressing the buttons) the green "search" lights on the receiver don't stop
searching and the keyboard is unusable. I even tested it on another computer
- same symptoms. -I really do like this keyboard, it is very responsive,
quiet and fits my hands ergonomically -- any ideas?

Its probably a silly suggestion, as I'm sure that you would have tried this
as a first resourt, but have you changed the batteries. I have the exact same
sillyness from my 6000 v2 keyboard about every 3 months. I change the batts
and we're back to normallity...

Just a thought...

Cheers,

thanks for trying. But that's the first thing I did -- several times. Even
went out & bought a brand new pack w/long expiration date - just to be sure
(husband does electronics/electric - had measured previous batteries, which
measured a tad under 1.5 - thus the new purchase) but that didn't help. Since
then I have returned the crazy keyboard. The mouse works fine but had to
return it b/c it's a set. Have received a replacement since then - and so far
so good. Maybe 3 is the charm. I think it's a "glitch" in some of the
keyboards, just hope this one doesn't have it.
