MS IE error

D

Doug

Hi.

I have a Dell desktop(4400 I think).

A couple days ago my IE stopped working. All I get is
the standard error msg saying "IE has encountered a
problem and needs to close......with the "send error
report" or "don't send" options.
I have tried uninstalling IE and reinstalling. I have
downloaded the IE 6 service pack 1 but this did not fix
it and now if I try to re-run it I get a message that
says I have a later version of IE and it stops the
install.

I don't know if this is part of the problem, but I have a
program called iefeatsl that shows as installed. I do
not know what this is and wondered if this needs to be
uninstalled before I can reload IE.

AOL continues to work fine, but any package that tries to
get to the internet by opening an IE window give me that
error msg.

Any ideas or assistance on this problem would be
appreciated.

i am having the exact same problem, and i also have the iefeatsl program installed in my programs now. not sure what this is. what is the .dll error you are receiving? i am getting "iemb32.dll."

let me know what you find out. i have tried removing the 3rd party extension idea that everyone is suggesting. last time my internet guy was out he installed adaware or whatever, but kazaa and other programs won't run with this pg. so i had to remove.
