I have an XP Home gateway computer with an XP Professional computer connected
as client over a MS Home Network, using a completely standard Ethernet
connection, set up using the LAN wizard.
When on line, the client computer persistently dials the Internet dial-up
connection on the gateway machine when no connection exists, despite setting
the gateway dialling rule to 'Never dial a connection'. I can find no way of
stopping this and would appreciate some advice. The only way to silence the
thing is to leave the Internet permanently connected when the client machine
is on. Pretty obviously, this is not acceptable.
