MS blue screen reads Please wait . . . on startup

Since installing SP2, when I turn on my computer, I get the manufacturer
Gateway logo screen, then the boot screen, then before the logon screen
comes up, a Microsoft Windows blue screen comes up that reads "Please
wait......" for a few seconds. Then the logon screen comes up and proceeds
as normal.

Can anyone tell me if it is in fact from SP2, have other people been having
this problem (I couldn't find anything here), and what I can do?

It has been noted by a few SP2 users that "something with a progress bar
flashes" when that was never noticed prior to SP2. I have seen it once
as a very brief flash. OTOH, no one seems to be reporting any
subsequent problems.
