Thanks for the help.

Here's the rest of the story...

MSAS was working fine, but I left town and one my children used my computer
instead of theirs, and when I came back I ran MSAS and Norton and they found:
SurfSideKick
SAHAgent
LinkMaker
IEHost

MSAS cleaned some and Norton found some and then booting into safe mode to
remove a few files Norton couldn't and then a reboot and MSAS would show up
in the tray but would not open!

Also Ran Adware and CClean still shows up in the tray but will not open or
scan.

Hi 61,

try this:

go to C:\windows\installer and search for "gcas", than delete the folder
where you find gcasSWUpdater.exe and some other files.
Also empty your temp and and internet temp folders.
Then reinstall MSAS
Hope this will work for you!

Thanks but, that didn't work either.
I noticed that I can disable Security Agents from the systray, but when I
select "Open MSAS" it re-enables the system agents, or at least it shows that
they are enabled.

Thanks

There's a fairly simple way to get around a problem with installations that
seem to be broken. Download and install the Windows Installer Clean Up
utility
(http://download.microsoft.com/download/e/9/d/e9d80355-7ab4-45b8-80e8-983a48d5e1bd/msicuu2.exe).

Launch the app, select Microsoft AntiSpyware and press Enter. Doing so will
remove all Windows Installer files associated with MSAS and allow you to
reinstall the app, which should solve the problem this time.

NOTE: DO NOT loose this app, it comes in handy when you have to reinstall
or update an app that can't be reinstalled or updated properly. I had to use
this when I tried to update MS Office and a failed installation caused the
..msi files associated with Office to be removed, causing WindowsUpdate to
fail. After running the app I was able to reinstall Office and update it
without problem.

Thanks for the tool. I tried it and it didn't help :(
I am not sure if this is related, probably not, but I did notice that in my
Napster and Yahoo Music Players the album art of the currently playing song
is not displaying either. The apps come up fine but the Napster album art
displays a little 3 inch by 3 inch picture of the desktop background and the
yahoo displays the default album art.

Thanks for the help

It was working great until I removed the spyware.
Just thought I could get it working again or narrow down the problem.

Part of the reasons for Beta is to work out these problems or at least note
them, not to fall back on the lame answer of waiting for Beta 2.

Thanks for the valuable insight
