MS AntiSpyWare - Can't open Cute FTP

I disabled the anti spyware but Cute FTP still wouldn't open ........ deleted
it and still no go. The error message I get is; ERROR:> Can't connect to
remote server. Socket error = #10013.
Everything else that could be a conflict is disabled ........... Any ideas?

Your firewall is probably blocking it. It has a free 30-day trial period.
Go to:
Start>Control Panel>Security Center to disable firewall, but be aware by
doing this you'll leave yourself wide open for spyware/malware and Spam.

My FTP Explorer won't connect unless I disable windows fire wall from the
network connection icon on my taskbar....
you can also access network settings in the control panel and
open the advanced tab once you are into it's properties;
then open windows firewall settings and turn it off while you are using your
CUTE ftp .... (just remember to turn it back on once you are finished!)
I keep my norton AV enabled as it alerts me and stops anything attempting to
get through while I am transferring files;
the norton does not interfere with my FTP
BTW, my son has 'coffee cup ftp' which also works with the mcafee AV enabled
and the firewall off.

followd all the tips from globalscape and nothing is helping.

FTP Explorer...... is that a free microsoft product?

Cute FTP seems to require to many updates now and none are free.

No, it is not Free but you can get a 30day trial at: http://www.ftpx.com/
and it is described as the original Explorer style FTP utility for Windows.
There have been no updates that I am aware of but there is a 'beta' download
available right now as well.... it is easy to set up and to use and fairly
cheap at $35.
Sorry you can't get yours to work!! frustrating I know!

Does anyone have any ideas as to what is needed to make this work?
