MPG movie and ppt 2007

an mpg movie made in the year 2004 shows up wonderfully. i can see the movie
and it doesn't embed like wmv file.

an mpg movie made on 5/7/09 worked the same. no problem.

an mpg movie made on 5/8/09 SUDDENLY embeds like a wmv, shows up with a
black box and doesn't play. the movie made on 5/7 and 5/8 were created
exactly the same. the movie from 5/7 also SUDDENLY does not link properly
like it did the day before.

the mpg movie made in 09 was converted using adobe premiere (a co worker
helped).

what happened?

i do not have time to buy extra software and my company wouldn't approve it
anyways. i need this working by tomorrow or the project is trashed.

embed... link... yeah... i was using the term in refernce to the file
behavior relative to wmv file format.

i still am curious if anyone had this problem and knows why this file worked
on one day and the next day it doesn't work?

as JPL said no video format embeds in PPT.

To make it work try downloading free Windows Media Encoder 9 from Microsoft
and use it to convert to a standard WMV. Delete any video files in PowerPoint
and then put the new wmv in the same folder and insert.

Nothing new happened between the 2 days? (downloads for example)

Jean-Pierre Forestier - nope - no changes in ANYTHING. :(

i'm sad. i'm too dependant on other people to assist me and this is the
real problem because when those other people "stop helping" there's a
tendency to stop the whole project, in my mind.

i have a back up plan, however, that washes all of the work and efforts out
the drain i did to get to this point.

Like i said, our IT department blocks this whole process because i cannot
download anything without their approval, EVEN IF my manager approves it,
they still take their time. So even that Encoder suggested WON'T work for me
because of IT blocking everything.

Thanks.

When I have a difficulty inserting a film, i try to transcode it and use
SUPER (free) (though Windows Movie Maker can surely do it) to do so. Try to
re encode your mpeg into a wmv; just to see...

PPT will only handle natively MPEG1 (various resolutions and bit rates) and
WMV (rather random resolutions and bit rates). Otherwise do a hyperlink
(they made it stupidly more difficult to find the file in 2007) and make
sure the computer is set up to play using an external program the file.

If MS ever gets smart (small chance) they will realize PPT is used for MUCH
MORE than mere business charts and presentations...it is currently being
used as a multimedia educational tool. WE deserve better multimedia
functionality. THIS HAS BEEN a sore point across the entire spectrum of
output of the myopic developers of this now terribly dated program.
