Mp3 file saved from pinnacle software

I just bought this Pinnacle software which coverts edits and manages mp3's. I read up on it, and saved a song from a cd to my hard drive, and was able to open it and play it. But when I inserted it in to my PP prensentaion, It will not play. I am a student currently taking PP, and we have been inseting music for weeks, so that is not a problem. But this file will not play. It is not to say I am a pro on inseting music in to my shows, but it has been working. I know what to trouble shoot for. However, one more problem arose. This one show I produced will not allow me to pull in any music. I even copied and pasted all my slided to a new presesntion. When you go to insert, movies, and sounds, the rest is dim. I opened other work and I am able to insert the mp3 from pinnacle, but it will not play. I already had an mp3 file from the internet inserted in my last oneand it worked, so I am at a standstill? Anyone can help? Im" desperate!!! 10 points off my grade if my music isn't right.

Which codec is Pinnacle using? My bet is you don't have it installed and
registered on the machine for use by the MCI player. (NOT Windows Media
Player, that has nothing to do with it.)

So you're only having problems inserting any sounds into one
presentation? That's odd. What if you open a new blank presentation? Can
you insert sounds into that? (Not the Pinnacle MP3, try a different
sound file.)

I can see if you were having problems inserting the one MP3 into *any*
presentation, though.
