Moving my operating system to a new partition

Hi, I've rather foolishly installed Vista on a hard disk that's really too
big. I thought this would be okay at the time, but now the drive is filling
up it's become something of a liability. Is there any way to just pick up my
OS, lock, stock and barrel and move it onto another drive? Ideally I think I
want to move the relevant files and programs etc from C: to another drive,
rename the selected drive as C: and carry on as before.

Is this possible?

It would be relatively easy if you wanted a complete image of your current
drive. I don't know of any software that can exclude all the folders you
don't want copied.
