Moving Label only and not box associated with it

I have an attachment on my form and the 'Picture label' needs to be above,
and not next to, the attachment box. How do I seperate them and or keep them
from moving simutaneously. I kknow its probably real simple. Just starting
OJT.

The label has one corner with a larger square marker when it has focus in
design view. Clicking and dragging on that will allow you to move only
the label.

In form design view, grab the square block "handle" of the label (upper left
corner) to drag it where you want it (rather than grabbing the label as a
whole).

The difficulty of positioning labels which are associated with a control
is one of the few things which has always irritated me about Access!

However, you can select (just) the label and some other object on the
form/report and use the "Align" or "Size" menu options. That's the main
method I use for getting these labels where I want them. Hold down
Shift to select the second or any subsequent control.

Also, I recently discovered that the Shift key will restrict movement to
the horizontal or vertical direction only, depending on which Access
detects first. First you must select the label: this highlights the
label's border, and reveals the movement handle for the label and its
control. Then hover the cursor over the label's handle (not the
border), so that the cursor changes to "crossed-arrows". Then hold down
Shift before you start to drag it. Fiddly! Always remember the
Control-Z "undo" facility!

It would be nice to be able to use the arrow keys to "nudge" a label,
though, as you can with other controls.

Except that it won't let you do the most commonly needed move......move the
label into a different section than the text box on a report or form. For
example, on a report, to more the label into a "page header" section while
leaving the text box in the detail section.

Do you know how to do that?

Thanks

Select the label.
Type Ctrl-X to cut it to the clipboard.
Select the section.
Type Ctrl-V to paste it. It will land in the upper left corner.
Move it where it's needed.

It's a hassle and I wish there were a simpler way but this is the best I've
found.

Your newsreader has clipped the rest of the thread, so we can't tell
what "it" is.

To make the change you want, I'd use Cut & Paste.

as a complete newbie i'm really surprised you guys have a prob with this -
maybe it's because i come from a graphics background

make sure you remove the control on the boxes by clicking on "remove" in the
Arrange tab - the label boxes come automatically attached to the control so
you have to detach them before you can move them around. then you just click
on the square in the corner and move them wherever you want
