Moving from FP2000 to FP2002 - webs & passwords?

T

Trajan

How do I transfer my web folders, & username/passwords, from FP2000 to a
FP2002 install? Both systems are Windows 98SE.

S

Stefan B Rusynko

You don't need to if it's the same machine and you are just upgrading
- after the upgrade, the 1st time you publish you should Publish All to get the webs in sync
If it's a new machine see
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=264777

Then the KB tells you how to transfer
- Publish from host to local is the best way

Semi OT question:

What is the purpose of Import (web) if it doesn't bring down the _files? Why would you want to use Import in lieu of Publish (down)?

I've made this mistake a few times myself...just curious.

You would use import when you don't have actual login access to the remote server.

That reference didn't apply. It telss me how to transfer my DISK WEBS - that
is, the file content on my machine.

That's not what I asked.

In FP2000, you can go to open WEB FOLDERS and get a list of your webs. When
you double-click them, it opens the webs and then asks for your saved
USERNAME/PASSWORD.

I want to transfer the LIST of my web folders, and their saved
username/passwords.

There is no function to do that. You can copy the web folder content to a different machine, but no
the user name and password unless you export the register entries.

That I can do. I have no fear of the Windows Registry (he he!)

Is that documented somewhere, Tom?

No. You just have to search the registry for one of the domains to find the correct key.
