Moving custom number format to NUMBER

D

Doug Boufford

Using Excel 2000 from Office 2000:
Lost hard drive from old computer but have a backup.
Re-installed MS Office & copied over all (I thought) template files
(personal.xls, etc)
On new install when I RT click on a cell & look at Format Cells under
the number tab, under "Number" there are 2 examples of "-1234" I recall
that in prior installation there was a choice for "(1234)" as a negative
number.( using brackets vs -ve sign)I know that you can get this format
by using Custom, but I thought it was already a choice in Number.
Is there a way to move the custom one to Number??
TIA
Doug

This is Windows setting.

In Windows Regional Settings you must make the negative number setup under the
"Currency" tab.

Yes........currency, not Number tab.

Thanks for the feedback but changing the negative number format under "Currency"
tab in Regional Settings is not very intuitive so it's easy to miss.
