Movies not playing again....

Hi Folks,

I see this topic has had a its fair share of posts, but this one is
slightly different.

My friend put movies in a a powerpoint 2002 slide. They play in
windows. they play in the preview view, but when you actually go to
view the slideshow they get to the first frame and nothing happens -
the show hangs.

The slide show was working a few days ago and they are all in native
wmv format.

Only two of the eight movies hang - anyone know why?

When I say hang I think you can actaully fast foward past them so its
not actually hanging the system....

Thanks

Could be hardware acceleration. Try this:

Close out of your PowerPoint.
Go to your desktop. Right click.
Select Properties > Settings > Advanced > Troubleshoot
Adjust the Hardware Acceleration meter down one notch (from "Full" to the
right). Click Apply.
Return to your PowerPoint presentation and see if the videos run in their
entirety.

Repeat above as needed until the video works.
If this does not resolve the problem, please return the meter icon to Full.

Let me know what happens

Hi Sandy,

Thanks for the reply. The plot thickens:

I tried what you said and it made a difference to one movie - but not
the other ones that were causing problems.

We tried removing all the movies and readding them - which worked for
the first two plays of the presentation - then it hung again!! To get
out of the hangs I have to go to task manager and end powerpoint.

I also tried changing the screen res from 32bit to 16 - no difference
here either!!

Any more suggestions??

Thanks

-AL
