Movies show in powerpoint on the laptop but they will not show on the screen
from the projector. I get the powerpoint show fine until I get to a movie
and then I get a black screen. Videos play fine from windows media player
through projector. AVI files play ok from the powerpoint presentation but
the MPEG and WAV do not. Reply preferred to (e-mail address removed)

Still the same problem. Could it be related to the fact that I have xp SP2
with PPT SR3 using windows media player 10. AVI files in power point show as
a first frame whereas WAV and MPEG show as a black box. AVI works fine
through the projector but the WAV and MPEG do not. Changing the settings in
the article makes even the AVI not work.

Might have posted this twice accidentally. Still the same problem with WAV
and MPEG not a problem with AVI.

by changing the primary monitor setting it does show from the projector.
However, still curious as to why I can no longer see on both. Worked fine
the last time I used it with the videos in the power point about two weeks
ago, and the only changes have been to critical updates on windows and
windows media player to player 10. WMV and MPEG I still need to then reverse
the monitors to see and edit on the laptop.

If it was the video card then it would not suddenly showup. Seems to be
related to some connection between windows media player and power point. The
problem did not exist before updates. Did have a problem with Access. Is
that program linked to any files that either power point or media player use?

It is probably a video overlay problem. Depending on you card, you will
have options for primary, theatre, or same, choose same, but remember
you must have at least twice the video ram needed to do this. A test is
to run your display at 800x600 16 bit for starters and see if you get
the options then.

Interesting tit bit, WM10 on it's own (nothing to do with Powerpoint,
sorry!) will ONLY play on the primary if VO set to same. But if VO is
set to theatre then it will show in the player on the primary and full
screen on the secondary.

Back on topic, in PPT the video plays quite happily on both.

Still on topic, one for me, when you show in the "Presenter mode" (dual
screen) eg. Presenter on primary the "show" on secondary, how do you get
a video to work at all? The presenter mode says "click here", but why,
when its set to start automatically, and both video "areas" are black.
Just curious really, only use the gimmicky presenter mode if I think the
show is likely to jump about or the speakers are "lively" and it goes
without saying NO video content.

Split the output and know your show, much more reliable.
