Hi,
If I were to transfer my Sony mini DV camcorder 1 hr movie to MS movie
maker at the best quality for tranferring to a DVD - how big would it
be?
My calculations put it larger than a DVD has space for.
Am I right?

Even at a high quality 8000 kbit/s, a 1 hour movie would be about 3.5 gigs
in DVD format. It would easily fit on a DVD disk.

Thanks B,
but I thought Movie Maker says for Dv-AVI that 1min = 178mb.
So 60 mins = 10,680mb (10gb)
What am I doing wrong?
cheers,

Probably true but that isn't a DVD format. If you want to play your 1 hour
movie on a stand alone DVD player you will have to convert that AVI to DVD
with something other then Movie Maker. Maybe the free version of divxtodvd
or Avi2Dvd. Movie Maker doesn't do DVD. If you just want it to play on your
computer, AVI is fine but uncompressed AVI files are very large and you're
right. Too big for 1 disk.
