Movie Maker exits on applying effects

I have downloaded (from Microsoft Download center) and
installed Movie Maker 2 for Windows XP. It exits the
moment i apply effect on any picture/clip. I have tried
several times but faced the same problem. Specifications
of my computer are : 1.8 Ghz Mobile Intel Processor, Dell
Latitude, 256 MB DDR RAM, 40 GB HDD (5400 RPM), CD-RW
drive, etc. I think the specifications of my computer are
well above the computer recommended by Microsoft
Corporation to use Windows Movie Maker. Help from the
Microsoft Professional in the above mentioned subject will
be highly appreciated.

It sounds as though you need the "Rename Codec" program available on my
website. While downloading it check out the FAQ to see what it does and how
to use it.
