Movie Maker Error

I have converted several flv files to wmv using a third-party program called
WinFF. The converted files play fine in WMV, but I would like to edit them.
I import the file in MM and can edit them. When I go to save the file, I get
the following message about 40% through the saving movie file process:

"Windows Movie Maker cannot save the movie to the specified location.
Verify that the original source files used in your movie are still available,
that the saving location is still available, and that there is enough free
disk space available, and then try again."

The answer is yes to all that. Why does it start but not complete? Can
anyone help?

Thank you, John. Unfortunately, the problem is only related to the videos I
have converted as described. If I were to convert the flv file to an xvid in
avi file and then use AutoGordonKnot to convert again, I don't have that
problem. But the audio and video often dont sync. I have even tried a short
7.5 mb clip with the same result. I thought there might be a codec or
something else I was missing that someone could mention.
